Thomas Tuchel has insisted that his Chelsea staff and players will continue to focus on the tasks at hand and enjoy the privileges of elite sport as the Blues look to bounce back from Sunday’s Carabao Cup final defeat.

Liverpool were victors at Wembley at the end of a two-hour battle that failed to separate the two sides, with an epic penalty shoot-out needed to find a winner.

The final was played amid the backdrop of conflict in Ukraine, which Tuchel admitted in the build-up had ‘clouded the excitement’ of taking part in the showpiece occasion.

However, our German head coach outlined his plans to maintain a sense of calm at Cobham and keep his players concentrated as we prepare for a swift return to cup duties in the FA Cup fifth round away at Luton Town on Wednesday.

‘In the middle of the storm, it’s pretty calm and this is what we try to have at Cobham in our training ground,’ claimed Tuchel.

‘This is what we try to install in easier times and in rougher times so that everybody feels safe and appreciated.’

Despite the disappointment of that Liverpool loss, Tuchel has urged his players to take stock and be grateful for the unique opportunities they are afforded as participants in elite sport.

‘When we are together, we can allow ourselves to focus on what we love the most, which is playing football, training football and taking care about our big passion,’ he added.

‘This is what we do. We know that there are bigger things going on than football but still we are very privileged. There is no doubt about it and this is how we feel.’
