Our head coach also reported the organisation within the club means preparations for the weekend’s visit to Burnley remain on a steady course, as they did ahead of preceding cup games versus Liverpool and Luton.

‘I said many times I love working in the Premier League, in England, to feel the tradition and love for sports and football in particular,’ Tuchel said in his pre-match press conference ahead of our trip to Burnley.

‘Chelsea, for me, is a perfect fit. I love to be here and I love everything about the club. Hopefully it continues.

‘There is now uncertainty, but isn't it always as a football manager? I'm used and trained to live with it on different levels. This is quite a new level but I have to live with it. I am positive and I hope things will end well,’ he added.

The boss also revealed how the squad reacted to the news that Roman Abramovich plans to sell the club, and has advised his players to ‘not worry too much’.

‘We had a briefing from Petr [Cech – the club’s technical and performance advisor] after the [Luton] match. He gave everyone in the building a quick brief and explained the situation, not too much that we did not already know. We have to live with this situation. It doesn’t make sense to worry too much because we don’t have a lot of influence, not to say no influence at all.

‘That was the bottom line. We are allowed to focus on football and do the best to focus on football. It was not only the team, it was all of the staff. This is what we try to do anyway, to create an atmosphere where you feel safe once you enter the building, where you feel calm because we do this on a daily basis. This can help now to deal with the situation,’ the German said.

‘There is uncertainty of course, like with all humans - 100 people in the building, everybody will feel different about it.

‘I think everything is allowed for every individual but we can and should allow ourselves to focus on what we love the most and this is football, and to perform the best way possible.’

The boss has been impressed with his side’s ability to shut out outside noise and focus on delivering quality performances on the pitch.

‘What makes me very positive is that we did twice in these circumstances against Liverpool and against Luton Town. Very focused, very good performances. The organisation was like always, spot on. This makes me very positive that we are able to compete tomorrow. This is also what we demand from ourselves.’

One trophy that Chelsea had not won under Roman Abramovich’s ownership was the Club World Cup, after previously being defeated in the 2012 final. Our triumph in that competition this season in Abu Dhabi finally completed the full set of trophies in our cabinet since Mr. Abramovich bought the club 19 years ago. On that, Tuchel expressed his joy at finally adding the trophy to our honours list.

‘We are very happy we could give him this and win it for him. At least we closed this cycle for him and for his effort, passion and commitment to the club. It was good timing.’
