Hayes nominated for Manager of the Month while four Blues up for Player and Goal of the Month

Chelsea FC Women boss Emma Hayes has been nominated for March’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League Manager of the Month award with Sam Kerr and Guro Reiten up for Player of the Month while Pernille Harder, Jessie Fleming and Reiten are in the running for Goal of the Month.

It has been a brilliant month for Hayes’ side who have won all four of our WSL fixtures in March.

Navigating a busy month, with six games in total including Vitality Women’s FA Cup and Continental Tyres League Cup games, the Blues earned maximum points in the league, scoring 17 goals in just four fixtures, including an emphatic 9-0 victory away to Leicester City to round off a perfect month.

Sam Kerr, who is nominated for Player of the Month, had an excellent record in front of goal for the Blues in March – scoring five goals in four games, including a vital last-gasp winner against Aston Villa at Kingsmeadow. After scoring against Leicester at the end of the month, our No.20 has now netted against every WSL team she has faced.

Guro Reiten has also been in fine form, netting three times. Our No.11 also assisted Bethany England’s goal against Leicester City, looping in an inch-perfect cross for England to head home.

The Norway international is also up for the Goal of the Month award for her stunning free-kick against Leicester City at the King Power on Sunday.

Two of our other Blues have also been nominated for Goal of the Month. Pernille Harder’s finely-struck strike against West Ham United has been shortlisted while Jessie Fleming’s powerful hit against Leicester City is also up for nomination.

The Blues are back in league action this weekend when we host Reading Women at Kingsmeadow. Our clash against the Royals kicks off at 6.45pm and you can obtain your tickets here.
