Thomas Tuchel has made a quartet of changes to the Chelsea starting XI for tonight’s game against Real Madrid, with his selection suggesting we will revert to a system with wing-backs.
Reece James and Andreas Christensen both come into the side, and only Marcos Alonso from Saturday’s initial four-man defence makes way. Cesar Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva and Toni Rudiger all start.
Jorginho also returns, at the expense of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, joining N’Golo Kante in midfield.
The three-pronged attack is once again spearheaded by Kai Havertz. Mason Mount, making his 150th Blues appearance, and Christian Pulisic, another fresh face, join him there.
Real Madrid prefer Federico Valverde, a midfielder who can play in a front three, to Marco Asensio or Rodrygo. Thibaut Courtois starts as expected, while Eden Hazard did not travel.
