Chelsea are targeting a 10th FA Cup semi-final success at Wembley when we meet Crystal Palace on Sunday, and ahead of the game we are asking you to order your favourite wins at the national stadium at this stage of the world’s oldest cup competition.
Our solitary FA Cup semi-final defeat at Wembley came in April 2013 when we were beaten 2-1 by Manchester City. Otherwise, we have a flawless record there which we will be aiming to maintain against the Eagles.
Below, in chronological order, is a brief reminder of each victory, followed by a drag-and-drop list for you to rank the nine successes so far in order of your favourite. There are so many memorable games to choose from - it won’t be easy!
1994 – Luton Town (2-0)
Gavin Peacock netted both goals as Glenn Hoddle’s Blues overcame second-tier Luton Town, featuring Chelsea great Kerry Dixon, in our first semi-final at the old Wembley.
2000 – Newcastle United (2-1)
Gus Poyet did the damage in the last ever semi-final in front of the old Wembley twin towers. The Uruguayan put us ahead and then decisively restored our lead with a thumping header.
2009 – Arsenal (2-1)
We trailed to an early Theo Walcott goal but hit back before the break through Florent Malouda’s low drive. Chelsea dominated the second half and deservedly won it late, Wembley king and Arsenal’s bete noire Didier Drogba painting London blue.
2010 – Aston Villa (3-0)
This wasn’t as easy as the scoreline suggests but Drogba, Malouda and Frank Lampard helped us move a step closer to a maiden Double.
2012 – Tottenham (5-1)
A vintage Drogba goal was followed by second-half efforts from Juan Mata, Ramires, Lampard and Malouda as the Blues ran riot against our London rivals.
2017 – Tottenham (4-2)
It was another Blue day at Wembley against Spurs in 2017. Willian bagged a first-half brace and with the game in the balance, Eden Hazard and Nematic Matic netted fine long-range strikes late on.
2018 – Southampton (2-0)
A bit of Olivier Giroud magic got us up and running early in the second half, with Alvaro Morata sealing the victory over Saints, although we owed plenty to the excellence of Willy Caballero in our goal.
2020 – Manchester United (3-1)
In the first of two semi-finals at an empty Wembley in the past two years, Giroud, Mason Mount, and an own goal helped us comfortably see off Man United.
2021 – Manchester City (1-0)
In what would prove a precursor to the Champions League final, Chelsea were excellent and deservedly won courtesy of Hakim Ziyech’s goal after Timo Werner had sprung City’s offside trap.
