Chelsea FC Women boss Emma Hayes has been nominated for April’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League Manager of the Month award with Sam Kerr and Jessie Fleming contenders for Player of the Month, while Beth England and Fleming are in the running for Goal of the Month.
April was yet another successful month for Chelsea as we won all three of our WSL fixtures, scoring 10 goals.
Navigating a month which also included a Vitality Women’s FA Cup semi-final, the Blues earned maximum points and rounded up a successful month with a 2-1 home win against Tottenham Hotspur as the race for the league title continued throughout April.
Sam Kerr, who is nominated for Player of the Month, enjoyed another successful spell in front of goal, netting four times in our three WSL fixtures. Kerr netted twice as we defeated Reading 5-0 at the beginning of the month, and also scored in both fixtures against Tottenham Hotspur as her tally now stands at 18 in the league.
Jessie Fleming has also been in fine form for the Blues, proving to be an integral part of Hayes’ Chelsea side. Our No.17 netted twice in our three games last month, with her spectacular long-range effort against Tottenham Hotspur also being nominated for Goal of the Month.
Bethany England is also up for the Goal of the Month award, our No.9’s terrific volley against Reading is up for nomination.
The Blues are back action for the final time in the league this season on Sunday as we host Manchester United at Kingsmeadow, kicking off at 12 noon.
