Conor Gallagher’s impressive season in the Premier League with Crystal Palace ended on another positive note for player and club. Gallagher was influential as always for the Eagles as they ended 2021/22 with a 1-0 home win over Manchester United, the midfielder’s 63 touches of the ball the highest in a Palace shirt.

The win meant Crystal Palace kept a fifth consecutive home clean sheet in the top flight for the first time in 20 years and ended a Premier League campaign with a positive goal difference for the first time since 1991, sitting 12th in the table.

Tiemoue Bakayoko picked up a winner’s medal on Sunday as AC Milan were crowned Italian champions on the last day of the Serie A season. Bakayoko didn’t get on the pitch in the final game which confirmed their Scudetto triumph, being an unused substitute as they won 3-0 away at Sassuolo, with former Blues striker Olivier Giroud setting them on their way by netting the first two goals, but the midfielder made 14 Serie A appearances for Milan in their title-winning campaign.

Ethan Ampadu helped Venezia earn a point in their final game of the season, drawing 0-0 at home with Cagliari. It was a subdued end to the campaign, with Venezia already relegated, but there was no sign of them crumbling as they held on for a draw against highly motivated opponents, who needed a win to avoid joining them in the second division next season.

Emerson Palmieri and Lyon signed off on a disappointing season with a win. The French club’s chances of European qualification had already slipped away, but they made sure they finished on a high with a 2-1 win away at Clermont in Ligue 1, with Emerson coming off the bench for the last 10 minutes.

Michy Batshuayi came on for Besiktas with 30 minutes remaining and the Turkish side trailing at home to Konyaspor. The striker helped them recover to secure a 1-1 draw with an injury-time equaliser, but their chance of a top-four finish had already gone, ending sixth in the table, six points away from European qualification.
