It could not have been a more perfect weekend for Chelsea Academy graduate Aggie Beever-Jones who marked her 50th appearance for the club with a goal.
The 21-year-old forward came on as a half-time substitute during Sunday's fourth-round FA Cup clash against Charlton Athletic at Kingsmeadow.
It took her only three minutes to contribute on her milestone appearance as she scored our third goal, a delightful finish following a perfectly weighted pass from Mayra Ramirez, in our eventual 4-0 win on home turf.
'I can't believe it's been 50 games already!' Beever-Jones reflected with a big smile. 'If you said that to me when I was 16 or 17, I would never have believed you. To top it off with a goal is what dreams are made of really.'
'Sometimes you can get caught up in not playing, but for me, I always enjoy coming off the bench,' Beever-Jones added. 'Last year I did that quite a few times, so it's part of my trademark a bit now.
'It was nice to make an impact on the game. The girls did a good job. We knew Charlton were going to set up quite deep and once we got the first goal the floodgates opened a bit, but I am just happy to get on the scoresheet on my 50th appearance.'
Beever-Jones' goal against Charlton takes her tally to six for the season across all competitions and the two-cap England international hopes to continue making good progress during the second half of the campaign.
'Sonia (Bompastor) has made it extremely clear that she wants us to be confident,' Beever-Jones said. 'She'd rather a player lose the ball and not have something to show for it than a player hiding away.
'I take a lot from that because as a young player sometimes you do make more mistakes and you do try things. I'm really embracing what Sonia says and I'm enjoying it. I think I play my best football when I'm enjoying it.'
The win over Charlton means the Blues are now unbeaten in 17 games across three competitions under Bompastor and are yet to taste defeat this season. Up next is our first Women's Super League match of the year, a visit to the Chigwell Construction Stadium to face West Ham.
'We said in the warm-up on Sunday that we have to start as we mean to go on,' Beever-Jones said. 'To get a win, goals, and a few different players scoring goals is always nice. We're ready to kickstart 2025.'
