Our European journey continues at the quarter-final stage of the UEFA Women’s Champions League where we face Ajax in the first leg at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam on Tuesday evening.
Having emerged from Group D in top spot with an unbeaten record, the draw for the knockout phase pitted us against Ajax, who became only the second Dutch side to make the quarter-finals of the competition.
We travel to the Netherlands in high spirits after a memorable night under the lights at Stamford Bridge against Arsenal in the WSL on Friday, when Lauren James and Sjoeke Nusken’s brace secured a 3-1 victory in front of a record crowd.
The Blues will be hoping to maintain this feel good factor with a positive result in the Netherlands on Tuesday ahead of the second leg at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday 27 March, with tickets available to purchase here!
When and where?
We take on Ajax in the first leg of our UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final at the Johan Cruyff Arena this Tuesday 19 March, with kick-off scheduled for 5.45pm (UK time).

The form
Since returning from the February international break, the Blues have achieved four consecutive victories in three separate competitions, scoring nine goals and conceding just once in the process.
We have maintained our position at the top of the league table, while advancing to an FA Cup semi-final and League Cup final. Now progress in Europe is the next item on our agenda.
Ajax occupy second place in the Eredivisie and trail pace setters Twente by six points in what appears to be a two-horse race for the Dutch title.
With only one league defeat to their name after 17 matches, our hosts will prove stern opposition in the first instalment of this two-legged quarter-final match-up.
European story so far
We stamped our authority on the group phase and maintained an unbeaten record in Group D, which consisted of Hacken, Paris FC and Real Madrid.
Four wins and two draws saw us progress to the knockout stage with 14 points from 18 available, scoring 15 goals and conceding five in the process.
Ajax came through Group C as runners-up, fending off Bayern Munich and Roma to finish level on points with group winners Paris Saint-Germain.
Three wins, one draw and two defeats saw them accumulate 10 points in total, scoring seven goals and conceding eight, to become only the second Dutch side to reach the quarter-final stage and the first since 2007.
Next up for the Blues
Emma Hayes’ Blues return to Barclays Women’s Super League action on Women’s Football Weekend, making a short journey across the capital to take on West Ham United at the Chigwell Construction Stadium on Sunday 24 March, with kick-off at 4.30pm.
