Aniek Nouwen will spend the remainder of the 2024/25 season on loan, joining fellow Women’s Super League side Crystal Palace.

The 25-year-old defender, who penned a contract extension with the Blues until the summer of 2026 earlier this month, will be looking to return to action with the Eagles after recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained in late 2023.

Nouwen joined Chelsea in the summer of 2021 from PSV in her native Netherlands. She won a WSL title and an FA Cup during her first season.

The first half of the following campaign saw the defender feature on four occasions before she spent the second half of the season on loan with AC Milan in Italy.

Before sustaining an ACL injury whilst on international duty with the Netherlands U-23s, Nouwen played once for the Blues last term.

On the international stage, the defender represented the Netherlands at youth level before making her senior bow in 2019. She is close to 50 appearances for the national team and competed at both the Olympics and 2023 World Cup.

Everyone at Chelsea would like to wish Aniek luck for her spell in south east London and we look forward to watching her progress during the rest of the season.
