With the Blues having already reached one domestic cup final this week, Ashley Lawrence is motivated to help her side progress to the next round of the FA Cup when we host Everton at Kingsmeadow.
The Canadian defender featured in our midweek 2-0 win against West Ham United at Kingsmeadow in the Women's League Cup, helping Chelsea reach a record-breaking sixth consecutive final in the competition.
This afternoon in Kingston, the Blues will turn their attention to the FA Cup as we face the Toffees in the fifth round. One-off games in the cup, Lawrence believes, can prove to be even stiffer competition as the teams battle for a place in the quarter-finals.
'Even in the league, we see that no matter the team or where they are in the table, every game is difficult,' Lawrence said. 'Every team puts up a fight.
'We know that and that's especially true in the cup games. It's a different type of motivation for both sides. For us, we're playing at home but we know we still have to bring our best game because it's not going to be easy.
'It's been a week with three games, so everyone needs to be focused. We're ready. This team is used to managing being in different competitions.'
The Blues have claimed bragging rights over the Merseyside club once already this season, beating Everton 5-0 at Goodison Park in a Women's Super League encounter back in November.
But, with a quarter-final place in of one England's most iconic competitions at stake, Lawrence knows her side will have to showcase a fine display if they are to extend our 22-game unbeaten run across all four competitions.
'We played them back in November and we got a good result,' the defender said. 'We started strong and that was what really made the difference.
'Going into every game, we want to start well and that's what we'll be looking to do on Sunday. It's never written ahead of time, but we will go in with the right mindset, mentality and the ingredients to get the win.
'There will be another team on the field as well and they are going to be fighting, too. We want to get the win and put in a good performance to do so.'
Ahead of the clash with Everton, Lawrence has made back-to-back starts and has been pleased to contribute. If she features in the FA Cup this afternoon, the Canadian international will mark her 50th appearance for the Blues.
'I just want to contribute to the team,' Lawrence said. 'I've started two games now and we've got two results and two clean sheets. As a defender, I'm very happy about that.
'I just want to give my all and contribute, offensively and defensively, as best as I can. Hopefully, I can keep this momentum up.'
When Everton visit Kingsmeadow, there could be an opportunity for Lawrence to reunite with one of her former team-mates - Maren Mjelde.
The former Blue, who won 14 domestic trophies during her seven years at the club, made the move to Merseyside last week. It will be the first time the Norwegian defender returns to Chelsea after leaving in the summer.
'Maren's a top player,' Lawrence said. 'She did a lot for Chelsea. She is a huge signing for Everton. I'm looking forward to seeing her, of course, but not on the other team! It's going to be a good match-up.'
