The 2024 Ballon d'Or ceremony takes place this evening in Paris – and several Chelsea players have been recognised in the voting for their achievements during the 2023/24 campaign.

Cole Palmer was on the shortlist for the men's award following his stellar debut campaign with the Blues and having helped England reach the 2024 European Championship final, in which he scored for the Three Lions.

The 22-year-old, who netted in our 2-1 victory over Newcastle United on Sunday, finished 25th in the voting. The winner of the men's award was announced later in the evening and went to Manchester City's Rodri.

Chelsea had greater representation on the shortlist for the women's award, which like the men's is voted for by a panel of international journalists. James, currently sidelined through injury, was nominated alongside team-mates Lucy Bronze, Sjoeke Nusken and Mayra Ramirez, who could not attend due to international duty.

Having scored a maiden nomination, Lauren James placed 13th at tonight's ceremony following an impressive year in blue. Our No.10 finished last season as our top goal scorer with 16 goals across all competitions, including 13 in our Women's Super League title-winning campaign and two during our run to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.

Also celebrating their first nominations following notable debut campaigns for Chelsea were Ramirez and Nusken, who finished 21st and 25th, respectively.

The Colombian forward joined the Blues in January and needed little time to adapt to her surroundings. She scored five goals in nine appearances and produced an outstanding display against Manchester United on the final day of last season, scoring two and assisting two more, as we clinched a fifth consecutive WSL title with a 6-0 victory.

Nusken played her part in our title-winning campaign, featuring in all but one of our league fixtures last term. The German midfielder showcased her versatility throughout the season, playing as a centre-back, a central midfielder, and a centre forward.

The 23-year-old also played an integral role for Germany this summer; she started in each of her country's six fixtures as they claimed a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Paris.

Bronze, who joined Chelsea from Barcelona in July, placed 20th at tonight's ceremony. During her final campaign in Spain, the 33-year-old helped the Catalan club to a league title, two domestic cups, and a Champions League triumph - the fifth of her career on the European stage.

Blues head coach Sonia Bompastor was also recognised having been nominated for the Women's team Coach of the Year award.

The award was won by former Chelsea manager Emma Hayes, who guided the Blues to a seventh WSL title in May before leaving the club in the summer and leading the United States women's national team to a gold medal at the Olympics.

It was not only individuals recognised at tonight's award ceremony, with an opportunity to celebrate collective achievements. Chelsea were nominated for the Club of the Year trophy which was won by Barcelona.

Congratulations, all!
