Aggie Beever-Jones is enjoying every minute with England as the Chelsea forward sets her sights on a first senior cap.

The 20-year-old is in camp with the Lionesses after being called up for the European qualifying double-header against France. The first match takes place on Friday night at St James' Park before the return fixture on Tuesday in Saint-Etienne.

It is the first time Beever-Jones has officially been named in the senior England squad, having previously been involved in a joint camp while away with the under-23s.

Our forward was included in Sarina Wiegman's 24-player squad for this summer's fixtures - with the England manager selecting the same players for the next round of qualifying in July - after an impressive season in Blue.

After spending the two previous campaigns on loan in the Championship with Bristol City and in the Women's Super League at Everton, Beever-Jones returned to Chelsea determined to make her mark. She certainly did that.

The academy graduate scored 11 goals and registered two assists, with many of them crucial in our title-winning WSL season. And ahead of a potential senior England bow, Beever-Jones has spoken about how she has settled in the Lionesses set-up.

'I'm quite lucky I know quite a few of the Chelsea girls and obviously having been involved in the previous few camps as well,' said our forward on being away with the Lionesses.

'I've just been smiling the whole time, and all of the girls have been so welcoming. It's a lot of pinch-me moments. I'm just delighted to be here.'

Beever-Jones made a good impression on Wiegman in February's camp when the under-23s trained alongside the senior squad. So much so that the England manager named our Academy graduate on the bench for the friendly against Austria.

That experience, Beever-Jones says, gave her more understanding of what she needed to do to improve her chances of being called into the senior team. And what she worked on had the desired effect as Wiegman officially selected Beever-Jones for the first time.

The phone call came after a tough day's training at Cobham as our striker recalled how she was told the good news.

'This number called me and I originally wasn’t sure who it was and I thought "It’s probably one of those people calling about windows or something" because I’ve had that hundreds of times,' explained Beever-Jones.

'Then the call came through again and I thought: "Maybe I should answer it."

'So I said hello and answered it, maybe not in the most polite way thinking it was the window people. I didn’t actually hear an answer so I ended it and then it came through again and I saw Sarina’s face pop up and I thought "Oh god, I better answer it!"

'Obviously, she said what she said and I was smiling from ear to ear. My family wasn't home at the time so I decided to wait and tell them to their faces.

'My mum and dad were obviously both delighted and it was obviously quite a nice moment to share with my family.'
