French defender Benoit Badiashile believes the pre-season victory over Club America was important in proving we are moving in the right direction.
The Blues dominated large parts of the 3-0 victory over the Mexican side, with goals from attacking trio Christopher Nkunku, Marc Guiu and Noni Madueke ensuring Enzo Maresca got his first win since becoming our head coach.
Badiashile started once again at the back for Chelsea and he is enjoying life under the new head coach.
‘It was important to win this game because we have started pre-season with a draw and defeat,’ he said post-match to reporters.
‘The coach asked us to be more structured and it is easy to play with him. We know what we have to do.’
He was substituted in the second period however he was adamant there is no major issue.
‘I am feeling good, it was just some cramp but I am okay,’ he confirmed.
Nkunku took just two minutes to add another goal to his Stateside tally and his compatriot was full of praise for the striker.
He said: ’Christopher is a good player and he showed today again that he is a good player and I am so happy he is with us.’
With few injuries among the camp now, Badiahsile is relishing the huge competition in the group.
He said: ‘We are at Chelsea so the competition is like this, even in midfield and the attack. It is a big club and we have to push ourselves to be the best as possible and try to do our best.’
