The goalkeeper joined Chelsea in 2021, moving across west London from neighbours Fulham, where he had spent the previous 10 years.

On his new deal, Bettinelli said: ‘It is a privilege to be at a club like Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world, and a couple of years ago when I signed I was delighted to be here, delighted to sign. To be here now and see the club going through this transition and seeing what we are developing, it is amazing to be a part of and I am buzzing to be here for an extra couple of years.’

Bettinelli has added strength to our goalkeeping options over the last two years, working with Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy, while featuring among our substitutes on a regular basis in the Premier League, Champions League and domestic cup competitions.

The 30-year-old also has a winner’s medal from last year’s FIFA Club World Cup, where he was on the bench for both the semis and the final, as we beat Palmeiras to lift that trophy for the first time in our history.

His debut, and only competitive appearance for the Blues so far, came in the third round of last season’s FA Cup, when he played the full 90 minutes of our 5-1 win over Chesterfield at Stamford Bridge.

Bettinelli’s new contract means he will have the chance to play his part in further success at Chelsea during the next three seasons.
