Chelsea travel to Sweden to face BK Hacken on matchday four of the UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage on Wednesday evening in what is our final fixture of the calendar year.

Hacken held the Blues to a frustrating goalless draw at Stamford Bridge on matchday three, but it was a result that ensured our unbeaten start to the group phase continued ahead of the reverse fixture in Gothenburg.

A 4-1 victory over Paris FC on home soil was sandwiched between draws against Real Madrid and Hacken – occasions where one point could quite easily have been three on another day – and we make the trip to Sweden looking to sign off in style ahead of the winter break.

When and where

We take on Hacken at the Bravida Arena on matchday four of the UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage this Wednesday (20 December). Kick-off is scheduled at 8.00pm (UK time).

The form

The unbeaten Blues occupy second place in Group D going into matchday four. We have taken five points from nine available, scoring six goals and conceding three in the process.

Hacken, meanwhile, have been one of the surprise packages in the competition to date.

They began the group stage with consecutive victories over Paris FC and Real Madrid, before claiming a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge last time out. They lead the way in Group D, with two points separating them and Hayes’s side ahead of kick-off.

Glance at the group

We travel to Gothenburg sitting second in Group D, and having registered one win and two draws from our opening three matches.

Hacken occupy top spot with seven points after recording two wins and one draw. Victory for the Blues on Wednesday would see us leapfrog the Swedes going into the winter break.

Elsewhere, Real Madrid prop up the group and take on third-placed Paris FC. The hosts need to win to keep their hopes of qualification for the knockout phase alive.

What comes next

After an intense three months, the Blues will take a well-earned mid-season break, which begins upon our return from Sweden.

We are back in competitive action in 2024 when West Ham United are the visitors to Kingsmeadow in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup fourth round, which will be played on Sunday 14 January.

Further details regarding our meeting with the Hammers will be announced in due course.
