The Chelsea Women squad have touched down safely in Spain ahead of our opening UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage encounter with Real Madrid on Wednesday evening.
The Blues make the trip to southern Europe aiming to get our group stage campaign off to a good start with a positive result at the Estadio Alfredo di Stefano, a venue we visited at the same stage of last year’s competition, when Guro Reiten’s spot-kick earned us a valuable point.
In the reverse fixture at Kingsmeadow, goals from Sophie Ingle and Erin Cuthbert helped us to a 2-0 victory on home soil. This time around, we have been placed in Group D with BK Hacken of Sweden, France's Paris FC and Real Madrid, who stand in our way on matchday one.
