Before Chelsea

Born in San Diego, California, the American began her playing career with the UCLA Bruins and competed in the National Collegiate Athletic Association. She went on to sign for Tigres in the Liga MX Femenil, helping them to the title in her first season while finishing as the league’s top scorer.

Prior to joining Chelsea, Fishel scored twice as Tigres recorded a 3-0 aggregate victory across two legs against Club America, which saw them clinch the 2023 Champion of Champions title, an annual Mexican football competition.

We clinched the signing of Fishel, affectionately known as ‘Big Fish’, on a three-year deal ahead of the impending 2023/24 campaign. She takes the No2 shirt and made her first appearance in Blue during our pre-season victory over Roma earlier this month.

True Blue

Having joined the club she has supported since childhood, Fishel shared her memories of growing up watching Chelsea from an early age.

‘I always wanted to grow as a soccer player. My brother had the Premier League on the television. I loved the way that Chelsea played. A very aggressive team with Drogba, Eden Hazard and David Luiz. They were a big threat.

‘I fell in love with how they played and attacked because I’m an attacking player. Hazard is one of the best and a legend at Chelsea, that’s where I fell in love with that team and I’ve supported them ever since!’

International career

Fishel has represented her country 28 times at youth international level. She netted 13 goals as the USWNT claimed the Under-20 CONCACAF Championship in 2020, a record for any US youth national team player in any CONCACAF competition, and was awarded the Golden Ball for the tournament.

She made her senior debut for the States in a 2-0 friendly victory over South Africa on Sunday. The striker replaced Alex Morgan with 25 minutes remaining at Soldier Field in Chicago with her side two goals to the good.
