Chelsea duo Lucy Bronze and Guro Reiten were pleased to have pitched in with goals as the Blues secured an emphatic 7-0 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

The rout of the Women's Super League newcomers began with Aggie Beever-Jones' opener in the 38th minute, and six further goals were struck in the second half, including Bronze's strike and a late brace from Reiten.

Summer signing Bronze netted her first goal for Chelsea three minutes after the interval with a finish typical of the England international. Hit sweetly from just inside the box, the ball soared into the top corner.

'I'm happy to score,' Bronze said. 'We needed another goal at that moment at the start of the second half. To get it early on was good and it sparked us on to get more and more goals.'

Meanwhile, Reiten opened her account for the new campaign with a composed finish from 12 yards before bagging her second with a driven strike into the bottom corner.

'I was disappointed after the last game because I should've scored a couple of goals there,' Reiten said. 'I've been really focused on that [scoring] this week and it was good to score two goals, first on the left and second on the right.'

To net six times in the second half was a vast improvement on an opening 45 minutes that saw the Blues create plenty of opportunities but struggle to find the back of the net.

'It was a hard first half for us,' Reiten said. 'They defended really well and we scored only one goal. We talked about doing everything a bit quicker in the second half and things opened up and we scored goals.

'I think we were better on the ball in the second half. We moved it around better and then it's hard to defend because there's going to be space somewhere and we found it and found it really well.'

'We were just trying to create different spaces,' Bronze added. 'We've got different players with different attributes.

'We've got different players who can run in behind and who are strong, good dribblers and good passers - that's what's good about this team. In the second half, we tried to change the dynamics a little bit and tried to play faster - that's how we scored so many goals.'

The 7-0 win maintains Chelsea's unbeaten start to the WSL campaign, with two wins from two, eight goals scored and none conceded. And although it is early days, the reigning champions know every point counts.

'We know how important each game is,' Reiten said. 'We won the league on goal difference last year, so you never know what's going to happen.

'It's going to be tight. You can already see the level - it's getting tougher to win every single year so we've got to step up, be better and go again next weekend.'
