Two Chelsea stars have been included in Norway’s squad for the upcoming Women’s World Cup with Guro Reiten and Maren Mjelde heading to Australia and New Zealand this summer.

Manager Hege Riise named a 23-player squad on Monday morning with Reiten and Mjelde receiving call-ups to represent their country. The Norwegians kick off the eagerly-awaited showpiece event against joint-hosts New Zealand on 20 July.

Both players were influential to our league and FA Cup double-winning season, scoring crucial goals and creating memorable moments during our UEFA Women’s Champions League campaign where we reached the semi-final stage.

The draw for the finals this summer placed Norway in Group A alongside New Zealand, the Philippines and Switzerland. Norway get their group stage campaign underway against New Zealand in the opening game on July 20 in Auckland, with kick-off scheduled for 8am (UK time).
