Kadeisha Buchanan and Jessie Fleming have been included in Canada’s provisional squad for the upcoming Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
Ahead of the showpiece event this summer, manager Bev Priestman announced a pre-tournament squad on Thursday. This group of players will travel to Australia for a pre-camp prior to the World Cup before the final roster is announced next month.
Buchanan and Fleming are called up to represent their country having contributed significantly to our domestic success last season, where we secured a fourth consecutive Women’s Super League title alongside a third straight FA Cup victory.
Both Buchanan and Fleming were key members of Canada's gold medal-winning 2020 Olympic team, and both are set to feature at their third World Cup after 2015 and 2019.
The draw for the finals this summer placed Canada in Group B alongside joint-hosts Australia, Republic of Ireland and Nigeria. Canada begin their group stage campaign against Nigeria on July 21 in Melbourne, with kick-off scheduled for 3.30am (UK time).
