The two teams who are yet to lose a match in the Women's Super League meet this weekend, and Blues head coach Sonia Bompastor hopes it is her side that prevail with the three points when we host Manchester United at Kingsmeadow on Sunday.
Bompastor has led her side to seven wins from seven in the league thus far, results which currently have us sitting at the top of the table. Man Utd, meanwhile, sit fifth and are unbeaten having won four and drawn three of their matches.
Our head coach wants the Blues to be the only team that can boast an unbeaten status come full-time, as we also seek to extend our winning run and increase our advantage at the summit to five points going into next week's international break.
'It's a big motivation,' Bompastor told the media at her pre-match press conference. 'To make sure we prepare for the game in a good way and to make sure we will be the team on Sunday to stay unbeaten.
'It brings an extra motivation because we want to show we are able to beat every team. This is the mentality you have to have if you want to win everything. It's another big challenge coming on Sunday, for players and managers, but that's what we want.'
But to remain unbeaten, Bompastor knows, will be a difficult task in Kingston. The Red Devils have conceded only two goals from their seven fixtures thus far, and our head coach detailed what kind of challenge she is expecting.
'Man Utd have a strong squad,' she said. 'A lot of quality all over the pitch. They have a team who are really organised. They don't concede a lot of goals, so we will have to find a way in possession of the ball to cause them some troubles in the game.
'They are really organised. So, the good thing is we faced Celtic on Wednesday and we expect to have kind of the same organisation. Maybe, sometimes in the game, a low block and they'll be really compact. We worked on that in the game on Wednesday and in our training sessions.'
Bompastor provided an update on Niamh Charles who is edging closer to making a return following a dislocated shoulder, but the defender will miss this weekend's match against United.
'Niamh practiced this morning normally with the squad,' our head coach said. 'She's in a good place, but she will still be short for the game on Sunday, unfortunately. She's doing well and we expect to have her fully with the squad after the international break and her being available for the games.'
Our head coach also told the media defender Kadeisha Buchanan had successful surgery on her knee earlier this week after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury a fortnight ago in our WSL fixture against Liverpool.
'Kadeisha had surgery on Tuesday,' Bompastor added. 'She's totally fine. The surgery went well. She will progress from that and we will be with her.'
