Chelsea head coach Sonia Bompastor says the Blues won’t be distracted by the derby atmosphere as she prepares to face Arsenal with a full squad at her disposal.

Bompastor was speaking to the media as our attention turns back to the Women's Super League for tomorrow's away fixture with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, following the midweek Champions League win over Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge.

She believes her team go into the match in a good place after that victory, helped by the possible return of the three players who missed that European tie - Hannah Hampton, Erin Cuthbert and Catarina Macario - for the short trip across London.

‘All three of them are in the squad for the game tomorrow and they were able to practice today in the training session,' confirmed Bompastor. 'There are no more injury concerns or illness concerns.

'We feel great. We had the last training session this afternoon and the weather was perfect, we really enjoyed it! The team is in a really good dynamic so we feel good.

'We played on Tuesday and we had a good result. We were able to manage the week the way we wanted to and I think we are ready for tomorrow, a big game and a derby. That’s the most important thing for us, to get in the place we want to be.’

There has been much talk ahead of the game about the importance of this derby between two sides who have built quite a rivalry in recent years and have title aspirations, but the Blues head coach insists she and the players will be approaching it like any other game.

‘Obviously Arsenal have a really good squad with a lot of quality and talent. We are expecting to have a tough game, especially in the Emirates Stadium, but we are prepared for that. We feel like we are always prepared to play any game. We feel good and just feel like it’s time to go.

‘The players are really focused on themselves and on the team. I just want them to stay focused on the job we have to do. We prepare for every game in such a professional way.

‘For me Arsenal is no different from the other teams we have been facing, so we focus on ourselves. We know what we need to do tomorrow to get a good result and a great performance, that’s it.

‘This game is worth three points, the same as the other ones. Of course it’s a derby, a special game in that way, but it’s just three points at the end. We have our ambitions, our goals, and this game will bring three points if we are able to win, that’s it. So I’m just focused on my team and what we need to do.’

After an impressive start to the season which saw us win both our matches in September - while scoring eight goals without conceding any in reply - Bompastor was named WSL Manager of the Month, receiving her award at Cobham alongside September's Premier League Manager of the Month Enzo Maresca.

‘For sure it was good to get them together,' Sonia added. 'That award is always a good recognition, I just want to thank my players because they are the ones who are doing good and making me look good.’

Hopefully the Blues continue to make our head coach look good by extending our 100 per cent record in this season's WSL at Arsenal on Saturday.
