Blues head coach Sonia Bompastor says her side will take to the pitch feeling fully confident when we host Durham in the League Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday evening.
Chelsea get their League Cup campaign underway in the last eight, hosting Championship opposition at Kingsmeadow tomorrow night.
A win would secure our place in the semi-finals where a clash against the winner of West Ham v Tottenham Hotspur. But, Bompastor is attuned to the challenge ahead of us as she highlighted a quick turnaround following our Women's Super League match against the Hammers on Sunday in her match preview.
Yet, that impressive 5-0 win in Dagenham, our head coach says, has left the Blues, who are unbeaten in each of our 18 matches this term, feeling confident and she hopes to bring that momentum into the cup competition.
'We always try to anticipate,' Bompastor said. 'It's important as staff to analyse the opposition. It can sometimes be difficult because when you play every three days, you need to stay focused on the game you're about to play.
'But, when you only have two days to prepare you have to anticipate. I've been watching Durham's games. I watched the result against Charlton on Sunday. We played Charlton recently and Durham lost to them by one goal.
'We also need to focus on ourselves. Coming from the performance against West Ham, we are fully confident. It's a League Cup game so we always expect the teams to make the performances hard for us.
'We will have the right mentality to make sure we perform against Durham and get a good result on Wednesday night.'
Our opponents currently sit fifth in the Championship with 19 points after 11 games. Only four points separate them and Birmingham City who occupy the top spot.
Durham reached the League Cup quarter-finals after topping their group, which also included Blackburn Rovers, Sunderland, and Sheffield United, undefeated in three games.
'They are doing well,' Bompastor continued. 'I've been following their performances, especially in the league. They are a historical club and it's good to have these types of clubs in the women's game.
'Having the opportunity to play them in the League Cup, I'm really happy with that. Especially because we're playing them at home and not travelling away.'
In our third game since the winter break, Bompastor's Blues will play in their third competition having featured in the FA Cup and the WSL in our previous two matches.
Our head coach was asked by journalists whether she plans to rotate our squad for the League Cup encounter, and she replied: 'We'll see. We always try to make everyone concerned about all the games and make sure everyone in the squad is involved.
'The goal is to involve everyone in all of these games in January. I have the quality in my squad to do that. So, probably some players who didn't start the last two games will be starting on Wednesday.'
