Sonia Bompastor knows Everton will be out to get revenge when they return to Kingsmeadow for the second consecutive weekend, but our head coach insists the Blues are ready for any kind of challenge they may encounter.

The two sides meet just seven days after they last played each other, with Bompastor's side prevailing with a 4-1 win in the fifth round of the FA Cup. On Sunday, they will meet once more but this time in the Women's Super League.

We go into this weekend seven points clear at the top of the league table and will be looking to further consolidate our position at the summit. To do so, Bompastor says, her side will have to be equipped to deal with all the threats the Toffees may look to pose.

'It's always difficult to play a team when you had to play them last week,' Bompastor said in her pre-match press conference. 'I think the game will be completely different.

'We expect a tough game. They were leading 1-0 and we were able to come back, but they will come with a new opportunity to beat us and a different mindset. They will have their opportunity to take revenge.'

When Everton came to Kingsmeadow last weekend, they took the lead directly from a corner before goals from Catarina Macario, Mayra Ramirez, Maika Hamano and Sandy Baltimore helped the Blues see the win out in comfortable fashion.

And although they are familiar with the opposition having played them so recently, Bompastor knows there will undoubtedly be changes made to their game when they meet in the WSL.

'We always expect different scenarios,' Bompastor added. 'One of them can be that they will be more proactive in the game and putting more high pressure on us. Some other options can also be there.

'My job is to make sure we anticipate that and we are ready for every scenario, even if we also want to focus on our team and how we can perform against Everton.'

Making her second start for Chelsea after signing from Barcelona on deadline day, midfielder Keira Walsh impressed in our previous meeting with the Merseyside club. That match, Bompastor believes, highlighted what the England international can bring to the team, telling the media long may it continue.

'We're really pleased to have Keira in the squad,' Bompastor said. 'As you could see, she's started the last two games with us.

'She brings a lot of confidence into the team, especially in possession of the ball. It's good to have her. We have a lot of talented players in the squad, so that's one more addition to a team with a lot of talent.'

Lauren James played her first 90 minutes since April 2024 in our last outing. It was an encouraging display for Bompastor, who hopes to see our No.10 thrive following her troubles with injury earlier this season.

'It was nice to see LJ back on the pitch being able to play 90 minutes and having a good performance,' Bompastor replied when she was asked about the forward's inclusion in England's squad for the upcoming international break.

'The last time she played 90 minutes was in April, so a long time ago. We still need to stay a little bit cautious about that and make sure we build her into more minutes and playing more 90 minutes in games.'

Bompastor also confirmed all of her players are fit and available, other than the longer-term absentees, including Lucy Bronze, who has missed the last three games due to injury.

Our head coach said: 'All of the squad will be available for Sunday. Lucy is back to full training sessions, so she will be available.'
