Moises Caicedo was delighted to open his goalscoring account in Blue in stunning style, with the midfielder’s goal contributing to a 2-1 victory against Bournemouth on the final day of the season.
The Ecuadorian opened the scoring for the Blues, but it was a strike you simply had to see to believe
Collecting the ball following a rushed clearance from Cherries goalkeeper Neto, the midfielder composed himself and lofted his strike into the net from the halfway line to send Stamford Bridge into raptures.
Following the break, Raheem Sterling doubled our lead converting at the near post and although Bournemouth snatched one back, the Blues held on for a final-day win and confirmation of a place in Europe next season.
Caicedo was pleased to help his side secure our place in continental competition with a spectacular finish.
‘It was an amazing goal,’ opened Moises.
‘I had the possibility to shoot and I did. It’s amazing and thanks to God for giving me the opportunity to score that amazing goal in the last game.
‘I didn’t want to look for my teammates – I just wanted to try. It was a good season for us to get Europe and I’m happy to achieve this and for sure we will achieve next season as well.’
Moises is now hoping for more of the same after his debut campaign in west London.
He added: ‘It is good to be here and join Chelsea – one of the best teams in the world. It was amazing and I’m sure next season will be really good.’
