Chelsea will play Newcastle at Stamford Bridge in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup next month.
The Blues advanced to this stage of the competition, which we last won in 2015, with a 2-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday evening.
We will now take on the Magpies for a place in the semi-finals, with the game scheduled to take place in the week commencing Monday 18 December. Newcastle beat Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford tonight.
Confirmation of the date the game will take place, along with ticket information, will follow in due course.
This century, we have twice met Newcastle at the quarter-final stage of the League Cup. In 2001, a last-minute Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink header earned us a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge. Five years later, up at St James’ Park, Didier Drogba’s free-kick secured our progression to the last four.
