Chelsea will face Championship side Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup semi-finals, travelling away for the first leg in early January...

Chelsea booked our place in the last four of the Carabao Cup with a penalty shoot-out victory over Newcastle United on Tuesday evening, after Mykhailo Mudryk's injury-time equaliser made it 1-1 at Stamford Bridge at the end of the 90 minutes.

We were the second name out of the hat in tonight's semi-final draw, meaning we will be away from home in the first leg, before returning to Stamford Bridge for the second match later in January, in the last season of two-legged semi-finals in this competition.

We were paired with Middlesbrough, who finished fourth in the Championship last season before losing the play-off semi-finals. Our last meeting with Boro in this competition came in 1998, when Frank Sinclair and Roberto Di Matteo's goals gave us an extra-time victory in the final at Wembley to lift the trophy.

The first leg of both semi-final ties will be played during the week commencing 8 January 2024, with the second leg fixtures taking place in the week commencing 22 January 2024.

Exact dates will be confirmed on the official Chelsea website and app in due course.
