It’s a first WSL match in three weeks on the agenda for Chelsea Women this afternoon as we travel north to Tottenham Hotspur and Jess Carter has spoken of the threats that Sunday’s opposition will pose to the Blues.

Chelsea have not lost in the league since September on the opening day, with a hard-fought draw at Arsenal last time out the latest match we have come out unbeaten in – a stretch of 18 games in all competitions now.

Ahead of our latest all-London contest, we caught up with defender Jess Carter, who speaks of our mentality, altering competitions and coming up against Chelsea legend Bethany England.

‘We always go into every game with the same mindset. The aim is to win every game no matter what the competition is. So we will obviously review the games that we've had and figure out what we can improve on and hopefully go to Tottenham and be able to implement the game plan and get a win,’ Jess says.

We recently defeated Spurs in the League Cup, but despite a 3-1 win for Emma Hayes’ side, Carter is still wary of the challenge that stands in our way.

‘Every game against Tottenham is competitive. They've had a couple of additional players and I think they'll really improve Tottenham, and I think that we've got to be prepared that they are going to come out with something different to try and beat us this time and maybe have a different game plan.

‘We've got to be aware of that potential threat. I think it's always a competitive game, and I think we've got to be on top of our game in order to get the three points,’ she adds.

Carter spent numerous years on the same side as Beth England but our previous No.9 now represents the white shirt of Tottenham, and Carter has heaped praise on the striker as well as warning what qualities she possesses.

‘We're good friends so we stay in touch. As a friend I'm excited to see her to do well there. It's nice to see her go and get game time and I think she deserves that, she put a lot of work and effort into performing and playing for Chelsea so I think that Tottenham are very lucky to then get a player like that. But obviously I don't mind if she doesn't do too well against us on Sunday. She'll go there and she'll give it all like she always has done.’
