Chelsea is pleased to announce that an option to extend the contract of defender Cerys Brown has been exercised ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Having joined the Blues in August 2021, the 19-year-old was originally a part of our academy programme before putting pen to paper on her first professional contract ahead of the 2023/24 season, with the option to extend for a further year, having impressed for club and country.

During the 2022/23 campaign, the young defender was named the Under-18 Player of the Season. She was part of the Blues side which won the FA Women’s Academy Cup and made her first-team debut away at Reading in the Women’s FA Cup quarter-finals.

For the second half of the 2023/24 campaign, Brown secured a loan move to Watford in order to continue her development in the Barclays Women’s Championship. However, this loan spell was disrupted by injury.

On the international stage, Brown represents England at Under-19 level. She will aspire to be named in their squad for the 2024 UEFA European Women’s Under-19 Championship in Lithuania next month.

Congratulations, Cerys!
