Trevoh Chalobah’s stunner in our opening Premier League game of the season has been voted as our Goal of the Month for August.
The defender completed his dream start to the 2021/22 campaign when he followed up winning the UEFA Super Cup on his first senior appearance for Chelsea by finding the net in his Premier League debut against Crystal Palace.
He got off the mark in style, too, as Chalobah responded to the cries of ‘shoot’ from the supporters back inside Stamford Bridge at that game by driving a low effort from 25 yards, which kissed the far post on its way in, making the final score 3-0 and sparking emotional celebrations from the 22-year-old, his team-mates and the fans.
You can relive that great moment in the video below…
Chalobah’s goal was one of eight nominated for our August Goal of the Month award, but the voting became a three-way race.
The defender’s strike received 41 per cent of votes from Blues fans, followed by Kai Havertz’s looping header at Liverpool and Marcos Alonso’s free-kick opener against Palace, with 30 per cent and 19 per cent of the vote respectively.
