Trevoh Chalobah admits defeat in the FA Cup semi-final to Manchester City was difficult to take but says Chelsea's players must quickly regroup ahead of 'seven finals' in the Premier League.

The Blues were beaten narrowly at Wembley by Pep Guardiola's side despite creating clearer chances across the 90 minutes. City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega twice denied Nicolas Jackson and we also had a penalty appeal for handball turned down.

Defeat in the FA Cup ended our chances of claiming silverware this season – and Chalobah's disappointment was evident as he left the pitch after the full-time whistle.

The Academy graduate produced a strong display at Wembley but says the finer details in the attacking third cost the Blues.

'The game plan of the manager we worked on the last few days definitely showed,' the 24-year-old explained. ‘We stuck to that game plan and it was just the final details – finding the back of the net – that we lacked.

‘It’s a tough one today because we had chances. What we have to do is learn from these types of experiences.

‘We've been here twice this season and a new group of boys have now had a feel for what being at Wembley is like. Hopefully, we have that again next season and we have to up our levels to get into the final.'

There is little opportunity for reflection for Mauricio Pochettino and his players. The first-team squad have regrouped at Cobham today to undertake recovery work and begin our preparation for Tuesday night's Premier League clash at Arsenal.

Chelsea will head to north London ninth in the top-flight table. Yet the fixture is one of our games in hand and victory would ensure we further close the gap to the clubs in the European places.

'We have to really focus and get the boys together because we’ve got another seven finals ahead of us to make things right,' said Chalobah. 'We want to show up for the fans and get the club where it should be up the table.'
