Trevoh Chalobah may have only trained with Mykhailo Mudryk a few times but on that evidence, as well as the Ukrainian’s debut against Liverpool, he is sure Chelsea have a special player on our hands.

Mudryk came off the bench at Anfield and immediately showcased his range of skills. Chalobah also noted the impact he had in getting us up the pitch following a difficult start to the second half, and it is the breadth of our new signing’s attributes that bode well for the future, according to Chalobah.

‘He’s a very exciting player,’ Trevoh enthused.

‘You could see what problems he can cause. It was good for him to get a runout and you could see the signs of what is to come. We needed to stretch the pitch, and when he came on we looked in behind a couple of times.

‘He’s a guy who likes to run with the ball and off the ball, so you have to be really careful. I’m glad we have him on our team!’

Chalobah took confidence from what he felt was a ‘very good point’ at Anfield, and further evidence of the positive steps this Chelsea team is taking. He played an important part in a second clean sheet, too.

With an unusually long wait until our next fixture, the visit of Fulham on Friday 3 February, the Blues have plenty of time at Cobham to build on the recent momentum. Chalobah has identified another couple of positive factors that come with the extra time between games.

‘We need to carry on what we’ve been doing in training and getting to know the new boys as well, getting them in and getting them involved,’ explained the 23-year-old.

‘There are injured players coming back too so it’s looking really good at the moment.

‘You’re always going to have difficult patches. It’s very important we stick together and keep working on things and slowly build ourselves back up.

‘We will be really good come February, and we can start to get ourselves back to where we know we can be, get ourselves up the table, and see how we do in the Champions League.’
