Niamh Charles is one of six players vying to be named the WSL’s Player of the Month for October.

The versatile Chelsea defender has made a stunning start to the season, laying on three assists in our opening four games which sees her ranked as the leading assist maker in the division and rightly sees her nominated for the monthly award. You can vote for Niamh here.

Charles, a full England international, has thrived since being deployed in an attacking-minded left wing-back role and as well as helping out offensively, she has also contributed well defensively – helping the Blues to a clean sheet in our home victory over West Ham.

The 24-year-old defender has helped the Blues to second place in the WSL table, behind Manchester City on goal difference, after we took 10 points from our opening four games this month – home wins over Tottenham, West Ham and Brighton as well as a battling point on the road at City.

Charles has been nominated for the October prize alongside Martha Thomas of Tottenham, Brighton’s Elisabeth Terland, Liverpool defender Jenna Clark, Lena Petermann of Leicester and Man City goalkeeper Khiara Keating.

Voting closes on Monday 30 October at 10am with the winner to be announced shortly after.

Good luck, Niamh!
