Chelsea are delighted to announce that Academy defender Greta Humphries has signed with the club until the summer of 2025, with the option to extend by a further year.
Having previously represented Tottenham Hotspur, the 18-year-old became a Blue in 2022. She has been a part of our women’s Academy for the previous two seasons and added a League Cup triumph to her CV during the 2022/23 campaign.
Humphries is a dominant, ball playing centre back with a strong physical presence. She enjoyed an excellent 2023/24 season and showed consistency in her performances, which has seen her rewarded with a first professional contract at Chelsea.
Speaking on a memorable moment in her early career, Humphries said: ‘It’s a very proud and exciting moment for me and my family. It’s my dream come true to sign a professional contract at this club.
‘It’s the club my family and I have supported our entire lives. I’m so grateful to be given an opportunity here and I can’t wait to get started.’
General manager Paul Green added: ‘Greta has been excellent in our academy and we’re really pleased to reward her with her first professional contract. She has worked really hard and demonstrated a great attitude and positive mindset.
‘Greta is a tall and athletic, young defender and we’re really looking forward to seeing how she develops in the upcoming years.’
Everyone at Chelsea would like to congratulate Greta on her first professional contract, and we wish her every success during her time in blue!
