With emotions highly charged on and off the pitch, games against our north London rival – who we face later today – are rarely dull. Great Chelsea moments have been celebrated against Spurs and lasting memories have been created.

Several outstanding Blues goals have also been scored when the two sides have met down the years. And to whet your appetite for this afternoon's clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Staidum, we have picked out eight of the best. Enjoy!

Bjarne Goldbaek

The Danish midfielder's career at Stamford Bridge lasted just over a year, with five goals scored in 40 appearances. He saved the best for last, though, as his final Blues goal ensured he would never be forgotten by the Chelsea faithful.

It came in May 1999 with the Blues trailing 2-1 in our last away trip of the season. It was then Gianluca Vialli opted to introduce Goldbaek from the substitutes bench. It turned out to be a wise choice.

As defenders sat off him 30 yards from goal, Bjarne needed no second invitation and rocketed a shot into the top corner to ensure the points would be shared.

Gianfranco Zola

The Italian's last season with Chelsea was his most prolific in front of goal and arguably his best all-round for the Blues, even at 36 years old. His timeless class was on full display with this perfect free-kick to equalise in a 1-1 draw which kept us on course for Champions League qualification in 2003.

There were question marks about the awarding of the free-kick following minimal contact from Simon Davies on Boudewijn Zenden, but no doubting the quality of Zola's swerving shot into the top corner.

Nemanja Matic

For Matic's many talents and big contributions to trophy-winning success at Chelsea, goalscoring is not something you would naturally associate with the Serbian international. However, it is hard to imagine a better strike of the ball than the one he produced to complete our 4-2 FA Cup semi-final win in 2017.

Hit first time from 25 yards, his powerful shot from distance flew perfectly into the top corner, clipping the underside of the crossbar on its way in and leaving the Wembley crowd stunned.

Eden Hazard

A goal best known for ending Tottenham's hopes of claiming the 2015/16 Premier League title and officially crowned Leicester City as champions of England, it was also a fine demonstration of Hazard's array of talents in its own right.

The brilliant Belgian beat three players on the halfway line to prompt the attack and then carried on his run towards goal as he exchanged passes with Diego Costa, placing his first-time finish into the top corner to complete our dramatic comeback from two down in style.

Andriy Shevchenko

The Ukrainian striker did not quite hit the same heights at Chelsea as he had previously with AC Milan, but his 14 goals in his debut season with the Blues was a respectable return.

The fact that one of them set us on our way to an FA Cup quarter-final victory away at Spurs - we would go on to win the competition at the end of 2006/07 - didn't do his standing with the fans any harm either! It was a goal to savour, too, as he cut in from wide and picked out the top corner with his weaker left foot.

Juliano Belletti

The Brazilian only managed five goals in his three campaigns with the Blues, but this one was worthy of taking our 2007/08 Goal of the Season award.

Incredibly, just one of the 20 outfield players was behind him when the full-back received the ball near the halfway line. However, Tottenham refused to close him down as he patiently carried it forward, inviting him to let rip with a thunderbolt from 35 yards.

Didier Drogba

When you think of Drogba and 2012, it is no doubt Munich and the Champions League final that springs to mind. The legendary striker also played his part in our FA Cup triumph that same season, though, including this stunning strike at Wembley as we dismissed Tottenham 5-1 in the semis.

As soon as he latched on to Frank Lampard's long pass, Didier looked like he had the beating of William Gallas, controlling the ball on his chest before flicking it around his marker and smashing an unstoppable half-volley past Carlo Cudicini.

Hakim Ziyech

Our two wingers combined to full effect to set us on our way to victory in our last league game before departing to Abu Dhabi to win the FIFA Club World Cup for the first time in 2022.

It began with Callum Hudson-Odoi turning out wide on the halfway line and evading the attention of four defenders as he advanced. When he passed possession over to Ziyech, the Moroccan international showed his impeccable technique by nonchalantly picking out the top corner from the edge of the box.
