The Chelsea Foundation’s Chelsea Champions programme is continuing to improve the emotional wellbeing and resilience of young people, supporting over 1,000 school students each year.
The programme works directly with five secondary schools across London, Sussex and Surrey, offering schools an innovative, tailored timetable of activities that builds capacity and coping mechanisms to meet the needs of the school and its students.
As part of the project, the Chelsea Foundation employs a full-time Chelsea Champion officer at each school, providing students with an approachable trusted adult when looking to receive support, guidance and advice at any time throughout their education.
One Chelsea Champion officer, Honor Thomson, was recently recognised by the Chelsea Foundation for her efforts since the programme’s inception in 2018.
Thomson, said: ‘The Chelsea Champions programme has provided a phenomenal experience to support young people within my local community on a daily basis. Seeing them flourish through the support and guidance I have been able to give whilst being at the Chelsea Academy has been a gift like no other.’
In a recent survey, 98 per cent of students taking part in the Chelsea Champions programme said they would attend a similar workshop again and would recommend it to their peers.
