Guro Reiten and Mayra Ramirez have been shortlisted for both the Women’s Super League Player of the Month and Goal of the Month awards for November.
Both were in impressive form over the last month as the Blues won all four matches against Everton, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United. Those victories extended our winning start to eight games from eight and moved Sonia Bompastor’s side five points clear at the top of the WSL table.
Reiten was on the scoresheet in each of those games, increasing her tally to six for the season, and making her our top goalscorer in the league.
Against Everton, the Norwegian international netted our third in a 5-0 win before scoring our second goal in respective 3-0 and 2-0 victories against Liverpool and Man City. She scored the match-winner from the penalty spot in last weekend’s win over the Red Devils.
And it was her goal against Man City – a delightful curling strike from the right side of the box – which has been nominated for this month’s award.
Ramirez netted twice in November and what important goals they were. She set us on our way by opening the scoring against Liverpool, before doing the same in our victory at Stamford Bridge over City.
The Colombian’s goal in SW6 has been shortlisted for November’s prize. A superb solo effort saw the forward drive into the final third where she got the better of two City defenders before slotting the ball into the bottom corner.
Our Blues are nominated for the Player of the Month prize alongside Steph Catley and Alessia Russo (both Arsenal), Katrina Gorry (West Ham), Anna Patten (Aston Villa), and Khadija Shaw (Manchester City).
Meanwhile, they are up against Russo and Frida Manuum (Arsenal), Annabel Blanchard (Crystal Palace), Jess Park (Manchester City) and Ebony Salmon (Aston Villa) for the Goal of the Month award.
Voting is now open and closes at 11am on Monday 2 December. You can cast your vote for Guro and Mayra for Player of the Month here and for Goal of the Month here!
Well done, both!
