Emma Thompson has signed until summer 2024 with the option to extend for a further year.
The 18-year-old will now go on loan to Lewes FC.
Thompson joined Chelsea Women Academy in 2016 and has already made her senior debut, representing Chelsea Women on a number of occasions including during an FA Cup match against Aston Villa last season. She also impressively netted her first goal during the pre-season tour against Glasgow last summer.
The No.35 has also represented England at national level since the age of 15, making appearances for the Under-15, 16, 18 and 19s national squads.
The Berkshire youngster will spend the 2022/23 campaign on a season-long loan this summer with Championship side Lewes FC to gain first-team experience.
On signing for Chelsea, Thompson said: ‘It’s a dream come true to sign my first pro for Chelsea. I’m really excited to get started and I’m also looking forward to continuing my development with Lewes.’
Chelsea Women general manager Paul Green commented on Thompson’s signing: ‘Emma has good movement and an eye for the goal and a great track record scoring at academy level.
‘In the short term, Lewes will be an important opportunity for Emma to gain vital match minutes in a competitive environment to build her experience further as she continues her development.
‘We wish Emma all the best at Lewes and look forward to closely watching her progress.’
