Official online travel partner trivago have been supporting young females on the Chelsea Foundation's Goal Getters programme through a variety of initiatives and events.

The initiative is designed to equip young females with essential tools and skills such as resilience, self-esteem, confidence and empowerment. Goal Getters is aimed at female students in secondary schools, helping them define their sense of purpose and to set goals to reach their full potential.

As part of the Goal Getters programme, students have the opportunity to identify role models, unlock new skill sets and share their experiences alongside their peers.

The values carried by the Goal Getters programme particularly resonated with trivago's mission: to empower people to get more out of life. After some successful joint initiatives earlier in 2022,trivago hosted participants from local schools at the Chelsea Women’s fixture against Tottenham at Stamford Bridge in November.

All guests received a VIP experience in trivago’s matchday box, including food throughout the game and some matchday Chelsea and trivago goodies as well as receiving a visit from Chelsea Women captain Magdalena Eriksson, as well as Club legend and ambassador Katie Chapman.

More importantly, this was an opportunity to bring together different generations to celebrate the return of the Women’s team to Stamford Bridge and reflect on the importance of building allies and sharing stories around skillsets and careers.

Saskia Keil, backend software engineering lead at trivago, commented: 'We spent an amazing afternoon with the girls in the trivago suite at Stamford Bridge. I’m sure that the new generation of Chelsea supporters will remember this for a long time.'

Logan, one of the Goal Getters participants, said: 'Watching the game with the women from trivago gave me a great insight into a variety of opportunities and career pathways there are. I am going to be choosing my GCSE subjects soon and they gave me great advice on a variety of topics that match my hobbies and interests.'

Chelsea Foundation’s partnership with trivago will continue to expand, offering unique opportunities for young females with a new project commencing in 2023 which will see young women aged 16-to-18 years old from a local secondary school paired with a mentor from the trivago FAME project.

Participants will be provided with career and personal development opportunities and will receive fortnightly education workshops which will focus on resilience and goal setting. FAME mentors will also take part in fortnightly sessions around the raising of aspirations and career pathways.

Alfie Butwell, the Foundation’s senior E&D officer, said: 'Goal Getters has been a pivotal programme to support young women across our network of schools, focusing on resilience and goal setting. Collaborating with trivago has allowed us to provide further opportunities and a support platform for the young women and girls.'
