The USA has been a frequent location for the Blues’ pre-season preparations, including last year when we played in Las Vegas, Charlotte and Orlando. This July we will be one of six clubs travelling to take part in matches and events in five major US cities, in what is the Premier League’s first-ever pre-season tournament in the States.
As well as Chelsea, the clubs confirmed to feature are Aston Villa, Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion, Fulham and Newcastle United. They will compete in a total of nine matches with the tournament kicking off on Saturday 22 July when Chelsea take on Brighton at Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia.
Our other games are on Wednesday 26 July at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, where we play Newcastle, and the final match of the competition at FedEx Field, Landover, Maryland, on Sunday 30 July when Fulham will be the opposition.
While Chelsea have played in the stadiums in Philadelphia and Landover before, Atlanta will be a new venue.
Prior to the Premier League tournament, the Blues will play Wrexham in Chapel Hill, North Carolina as part of the 2023 FC Series. The venue will be the University of North Carolina’s 50,000-capacity Kenan Stadium.
An additional stateside fixture against Borussia Dortmund has also been confirmed. We play i Chicago's Soldier Field for the first time on 2 August.
The Premier League Summer Series tournament will comprise of the high-profile matches and pre-season training camps and will be supported by a range of events for fans and local community groups.
The Premier League has previously hosted pre-season matches via the Premier League Asia Trophy, with Chelsea taking part and winning that tournament in 2003 in Malaysia and 2011 in Hong Kong.
