Mauricio Pochettino has made two changes to his team for tonight’s Carabao Cup semi-final against Middlesbrough, including Ben Chilwell’s first start in four months.
Chelsea need a win in this second leg at Stamford Bridge, as we look to overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first game to book our place at Wembley.
However, our chances are boosted by the return to the starting line-up of Ben Chilwell, who captains the side this evening after coming off the bench in our last match against Fulham. Chilwell last started a game in the 1-0 home win over Brighton, in the third round of the Carabao Cup.
He will line up in defence alongside Axel Disasi, Thiago Silva and Levi Colwill, with Malo Gusto the man making way, while Djordje Petrovic continues as goalkeeper.
Conor Gallagher is the other player to miss out this evening, as he is replaced by Mykhailo Mudryk, one of the heroes of our victory over Newcastle United in the last round. That means Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo look likely to form a two-man midfield.
Armando Broja will lead the attack again, supported by Mudryk, Cole Palmer and Raheem Sterling.
Chelsea: Petrovic, Disasi, Thiago Silva, Colwill, Chilwell (c), Caicedo, Enzo, Sterling, Palmer, Mudryk, Broja
Substitutes: Bergstrom, Curd, Badiashile, Gilchrist, Castledine, Chukwuemeka, Gallagher, Madueke, Washington
