Frank Lampard and his Chelsea players were back in action at Stamford Bridge today for the first time since March, with the Blues training on our main pitch instead of at our Cobham training base.
Earlier this week it was announced that Premier League football would return later this month, with Chelsea set to travel to Aston Villa on Sunday, June 21 for our first game since the season was paused in March following the coronavirus outbreak.
The Blues have been training for the past few weeks, moving up to restricted contact work, while continuing to follow the Government’s guidelines and protocol on safe social distancing at all other times.
With a return to match action on the horizon, Lampard wanted his players to get back out on the grass at Stamford Bridge and held an in-house game for his squad in today’s session.
The squad was split into two sides, one wearing the home shirt and the other side in our white away kit, and match rules and conditions were in place. Although it was Lampard and his coaching staff that were officiating on this occasion!
Here’s a look at the best images captured from today’s session at the Bridge, as seen captured through the camera lens of our club photographer…
