Blues fans have the opportunity to watch their team in action at home a week before the Premier League season commences, with the announcement today of a fixture against Inter. It is to be the first Stamford Bridge game for Enzo Maresca!

Chelsea will host the Serie A champions on Sunday 11 August with kick-off at 3pm.

Following on from our USA Tour 2024, it will be the final preparations for the squad ahead of the first campaign under our new head coach, who for his first game at his new stadium will be taking on a side coached by his compatriot Simone Inzaghi. Inter last season claimed their 20th Italian title.

In addition to welcoming Maresca for the start of this new era, Chelsea fans will be able to watch our newest signings on the Stamford Bridge pitch for the first time, as well as welcome back familiar faces who have been on the international stage at Euro 2024 and Copa America.

The match is also the first chance to watch a pre-season game at the Bridge since 2021 when we played Tottenham Hotspur. It is the first against overseas opposition since three years before that, when Lyon were the visitors.

That same year staged our most recent meeting with Inter – a pre-season match in Nice in France. Pedro scored in a 1-1 draw before the contest was settled in Chelsea’s favour by a penalty shoot-out.

As plans for the 2024/25 campaign are finalised and Maresca begins the countdown to his first Premier League team selection, this new August date with Inter promises to be the perfect scene-setter for Manchester City’s visit the following Sunday when the big kick-off gets underway.
