The Blues will go into the draw for the Champions League round of 16 as one of the seeded first-place sides following tonight’s matchday five results.
The combination of our 2-1 win away against RB Salzburg in the early kick-off (which was enough on its own to guarantee qualification) followed by AC Milan’s beating of Dinamo Zagreb in the later kick-off, ensured Graham Potter’s side are guaranteed top spot in Group E with one game to spare.
Zagreb had to win at home to give the Blues something to do on matchday six but goals by Matteo Gabbia, Rafael Leao, an Olivier Giroud penalty and an own goal gave Milan a 4-0 victory.
Chelsea’s better head-to-head record against the Italian champions means we will be placed above them if both teams finish on the same points.
Our final group game is against Croatian side Dinamo at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday 2 November.
