A night under the lights awaits Chelsea when we take on Arsenal at Stamford Bridge this Friday evening as the race for the Barclays Women’s Super League title intensifies.

We began a hectic run of matches this month in fine fettle with three consecutive victories across three different competitions. We have maintained our grip on top spot in the league, while progressing to the League Cup final and FA Cup semi-finals in the process.

Having been on the road for the past three matches, we are back on home soil for a blockbuster London derby against Arsenal at the Bridge on Friday, with two places and three points separating the sides before a ball is kicked.

When and where?

We return to WSL action with a mouthwatering London derby against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge this Friday (March 15), with kick-off scheduled for 7pm (UK time).

How to follow

As always, you can follow the game via Chelsea Women’s social media channels. There will be live commentary on our Twitter page and regular updates on Facebook and Instagram. Simply search ‘ChelseaFCW’ into each platform. There will also be extensive match-by-match updates via the match centre on our app and website.

For supporters who are unable to attend the match, this has been selected for live television coverage on Sky Sports.

The form

Going into the match, we occupy top spot in the division level on points with Manchester City in second. A victory would see us extend our lead at the summit to three points before City visit Brighton on Sunday.

After 12 wins, one draw and two defeats from 15 league matches to date, we have earned 37 points from 45 available. With 45 goals scored and 13 conceded in the process, we possess a goal difference of 32 – three more than Manchester City.

As for Arsenal, they sit third in the league table going into this one with 34 points having won 11, drawn one and lost three of their 15 league games to date. They have netted 33 goals and conceded 14 leaving them with a goal difference of 19.

Chelsea versus Arsenal is the most played fixture in WSL history (27 including this game) with the head-to-head record perfectly balanced at 10 wins each and six draws.

Head-to-head record

In the reverse league fixture at the Emirates in December, we were on the wrong end of a 4-1 defeat on an uncharacteristically difficult day at the office for the Blues.

Beth Mead gave the hosts an early lead which was cancelled out by a fine strike from Johanna Rytting Kaneryd, but we couldn’t swing the momentum back in our favour.

Before the break, Amanda Ilestedt restored the Gunners’ advantage which preceded a brace from Alessia Russo to put the game beyond our reach.

Next up

Our attention turns to the UEFA Women’s Champions League when we take on Ajax in the first leg of our quarter-final tie in Amsterdam on Tuesday 19 March, with kick-off at 5.45pm (UK time) at the Johan Cruyff Arena.
