A top of the table clash sees Chelsea and Manchester City do battle in the Barclays Women’s Super League at Kingsmeadow on Friday evening.
It’s first against second under the lights at Kingsmeadow tomorrow evening, with the Blues looking to extend our winning run to nine consecutive matches since the turn of the year, ahead of the international break which begins next week.
We have progressed to the UEFA Women’s Champions League and Adobe Women’s FA Cup quarter-finals in recent weeks, while reaching the semi-finals of the League Cup, where we will travel to Friday’s opponents Manchester City next month.
Having played three successive matches at Kingsmeadow in three separate competitions during February, we will be looking to end this block of fixtures on a high in front of a sell-out crowd whose support will be crucial if the Blues are to get the job done on the night.
When and where?
Manchester City are the visitors to Kingsmeadow this Friday 16 February, with kick-off scheduled for 7.15pm (UK time).

The form
Ahead of kick-off, we occupy top spot in the division with a three-point lead over Gareth Taylor's side in second. We have the chance to take a six-point lead into the international break with victory, while avoiding defeat will see us maintain our three-point advantage.
After 11 wins, one draw and one defeat from 13 league matches to date, we have accumulated 34 points from 39 available. With 41 goals scored and 12 conceded in the process, we possess a goal difference of 29 – two more than Friday's opponents.
As for City, they come to the capital in second place with 31 points having registered 10 wins and one draw while suffering two defeats thus far this season. They have scored 35 goals and conceded eight leaving them with a goal difference of 27 – two less than the Blues.
Looking at the stats, across her last 25 WSL starts, Chelsea’s Guro Reiten has been involved in 26 goals (13 goals, 13 assists), scoring two penalties in their 3-0 win over Everton last time out.
Chelsea vs. Manchester City recent head-to-head record
In the reverse league fixture at the Joie Stadium in October, we required a stoppage-time equaliser to salvage a point in our first away match of the season.
Chloe Kelly’s deflected strike gave the hosts the lead, they were reduced to nine players before 80 minutes with Alex Greenwood and Lauren Hemp picking up second yellow cards.
With the clock ticking, up stepped Reiten to bundle the ball home from close range during second half injury time to ensure we left with something to show for our efforts.
Next up for the Blues
Domestic football is placed on hold with the February international break now upon us. Chelsea return to WSL action with a trip to King Power Stadium where we face Leicester City on Sunday 3 March, with kick-off scheduled for 6.00pm (UK time)
