A second consecutive outing at Stamford Bridge sees Chelsea take on Real Madrid tomorrow on matchday five of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Since returning from the mid-season break, we have recorded back-to-back victories in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup and Barclays Women’s Super League.
Our most recent outing ended in a 3-1 league victory over Manchester United at the Bridge on Sunday.
Lauren James claimed the plaudits with a devastating hat-trick that restored our three-point advantage atop the league table. It was also a second consecutive WSL hat-trick for James at Stamford Bridge after she took home the match ball against Liverpool in November.
We return to European action with our penultimate match of the UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage against Real Madrid where we will be looking to qualify for the knockout stages.
The visitors are playing for pride having seen their hopes of qualification dashed.
When and where?
We take on Real Madrid in the UEFA Women's Champions League at Stamford Bridge tomorrow (Wednesday 24 January). Kick-off at 8pm (UK time).

The form
Two wins and two draws from our opening four matches ensures we go into matchday five with a one-point lead at the top of Group D. We have taken eight points from 12 available, scoring nine goals and conceding four in the process leaving us with a goal difference of plus five.
As for Real Madrid, they have endured a disappointing campaign on the European stage having failed to qualify for the knockout stages this season.
They are looking for their first victory of the group phase with one draw and three defeats to their name leaving them bottom of the table.
In our previous outing on matchday four, we travelled to Sweden to face BK Hacken and came away with a valuable three points in a 3-1 victory thanks to an Erin Cuthbert brace and Sam Kerr strike, which saw us move into top spot.
Glance at the group
We go into matchday five sitting top of Group D knowing that victory against Real Madrid would see us qualify for the quarter-finals.
In the reverse fixture, we were forced to settle for a point after a controversial 2-2 draw on a night where our performance merited more. Kerr and Niamh Charles were on target while Olga Carmona netted twice for the hosts.
Elsewhere in Group D, it’s second against third as BK Hacken take on Paris FC in the earlier kick-off at 5.45pm (UK time) with both sides battling to qualify for the quarter-final stage.
Next up for the Blues
It's another quick turnaround for the Blues, who take on Brighton and Hove Albion in the Women's Super League on Saturday. Kick-off is scheduled for 5.30pm.
