It is almost time to welcome Chelsea Women back home to Kingsmeadow...
The Blues return to our home turf this Saturday (kick-off 12pm) for the first time in more than four months to host Dutch side Feyenoord in a pre-season friendly.
This is the only chance to watch our women's team at home before we begin the defence of our Women's Super League title when we host Aston Villa in our season opener on Friday 20 September at Kingsmeadow.
Welcome the Blues back home and buy your tickets for this weekend's friendly against Feyenoord, and our first league game of the season, here!
Before the competitive action kicks off, the Feyenoord friendly not only marks the return to our home stadium, but it will also be the first time new head coach Sonia Bompastor and her coaching staff will lead Chelsea out at Kingsmeadow.
Bompastor has already led the Blues to two victories so far, having won both of our matches - against NJ/NY Gotham in New Jersey and Arsenal in Washington, DC - whilst on tour in the USA.
Against Feyenoord, there could also be number of maiden appearances at home in Chelsea blue, with summer signings - such as Lucy Bronze - and those returning from loan vying for more pre-season minutes in the tank.
A 3-1 victory over Gotham saw a number of those players gain their first minutes in Chelsea blue, while the only goal in our 1-0 win against Arsenal saw new recruit Sandy Baltimore net her first goal for the club.
Will we see more firsts against Feyenoord? You will just have to make your way to Kingsmeadow to watch all of the action and find out!
Our last match at Kingsmeadow was a scintillating occasion. The Blues' final home game of the 2023/24 season - our third last match of the campaign - saw us record an 8-0 victory over Bristol City and put us back in pole position for a fifth consecutive WSL title. We all know what happened next...
This weekend's opponents will arrive in Kingston in the midst of their own pre-season preparations having also played two games so far: a 1-0 win over AZ Alkmaar and a 4-3 defeat to Anderlecht.
Last season, Feyenoord finished eighth in the Eredivisie. The Dutch top-flight was won by FC Twente, who had Chelsea's Wieke Kaptein in their ranks as the the teen midfielder spent the campaign on loan in her homeland.
