A London derby awaits the Blues with Crystal Palace our opponents in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup fifth round proper at Kingsmeadow tomorrow.
Our third home match in quick succession sees us take on Palace of the Barclays Women’s Championship, and we will be looking to continue the defence of our FA Cup crown and secure a place in the quarter-finals next month.
In terms of league exploits, Palace have been going well in the Championship where they occupy third place in the standings, three points shy of top spot with a game in hand on Sunderland and Charlton Athletic above them.
We go into the match off the back of consecutive victories in league and cup at Kingsmeadow. A 3-0 win over Everton in the Barclays Women’s Super League preceded our progression to the League Cup semi-finals with a 5-0 victory over Sunderland in midweek.
When and where?
We welcome Crystal Palace to Kingsmeadow in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup fifth round proper this Sunday 11 February, with kick-off at 2.00pm (UK time).
How to follow
As always, you can follow the game via Chelsea Women’s social media channels. There will be live commentary on our Twitter page and regular updates on Facebook and Instagram. Simply search ‘ChelseaFCW’ on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
For supporters who are unable to attend the match, this fixture will be available to watch live on the FA Player platform and Adobe Women’s FA Cup social channels.
The form
We have maintained a 100% record since the turn of the year, with seven consecutive victories across four different competitions.
Progression in the Women’s FA Cup and FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup has been coupled with qualification for the UEFA Women’s Champions League knockout stage, and the preservation of our three-point lead at the top of the WSL.
As for Palace, they occupy third in the Barclays Women’s Championship with 27 points having registered eight wins, three draws and three defeats from 14 matches to date. They are challenging for promotion to the WSL and will be looking to cause a cup upset against the defending champions.
On route to the fifth round, Palace overcame Chatham Town and Blackburn Rovers while the Blues required extra time to see off West Ham United and set up an all-London affair in the fifth round on Sunday afternoon.
Head to head: Chelsea vs Crystal Palace
Our previous competitive meeting with Palace came in the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup group stage back in October 2019, where Drew Spence added to a Bethany England brace to help us to a 3-0 victory.
Before that, the teams met at the same stage of the Women’s League Cup in September 2018. Spence and Adelina Engman added to another England brace as the Blues ran out 4-0 winners.
Next up for the Blues
We return to Barclays Women’s Super League action when we take on Manchester City in a top-of-the-table clash at Kingsmeadow on Friday 16 February, with kick-off at 7.15pm (UK time).
